Toddlers are classified as one from a year and a half to three years. There is a big difference in their abilities over this period of time. By the time a child is three they have mastered many things such as following directions, playing with other children, completing some sentences and enjoying hearing stories and can speak sentences.

The one and a half year old, on the other hand, can pile up 3 or 4 blocks, pick up a toy without falling and begin to jump up and down. Their talk at this stage is described as ‘jargon’ with very few words that can be understood. These activities are directed at the younger child.

There is nothing more exciting than having one’s child chosen to be a flower girl at a wedding. They always make a delightful picture as they walk down the aisle, stewing rose petals or some other kind of flower along the way. There is no age set for a flower girl so one may see a toddler or someone around six or seven. Picking the right girl dress is important.

In ordering or making a flower girl dress, there are certain procedures that must be followed. The bride should be consulted for her preferences. Some prefer that the flower girl wear white, other’s want something that reflect the bride’s colors, but in an innocent kind of way. Those in white usually have a wide ribbon at the waist that is the bride’s color or the color of the bridesmaid dresses.
